Hello, friends!
First, before I get into the regularly scheduled programming, Rand (Fishkin of SparkToro) and Paddy (Moogan of The New Leader) are running a survey for agency owners and solo consultants to help gauge what's normal, what's new, and what's expected for the future. It takes ~7 minutes, and answers are anonymous, but the aggregation should be quite valuable. They plan to publish the results in a few weeks.
Okay, back to all things digital PR!
Full disclosure: This isn’t an ad, and I’m not getting paid to say this. But have you heard of Qwoted? It has been an absolute game-changer for connecting my clients with journalists.
Like any tool, there’s a right way to use it. Here are a few of my personal tips to make the most out of Qwoted:
Craft a Compelling Profile: Your Qwoted profile is your digital calling card. Make it shine by highlighting your expertise, experience, and industry insights. Use relevant keywords and hashtags to increase visibility, and include links to your website and social media profiles.
Optimize Your Source Profiles: Make sure your experts' profiles are comprehensive and up-to-date. Include bios, credentials, recent quotes, media appearances, and professional headshots.
Monitor Queries Regularly: Stay proactive by checking Qwoted for new journalist queries. Set up email notifications or schedule daily checks to catch opportunities.
Tailor Responses Accordingly: Provide genuine, tailored responses to journalist queries. Avoid canned responses and showcase your expert's unique perspective.
Missed the Deadline? Still Pitch! Even if you miss a deadline, send your insights. This keeps you on the journalist's radar and might lead to future collaborations.
Prioritize Responsiveness: Respond promptly to journalist inquiries to build strong relationships and rapport.
Foster Community Engagement: Engage with peers, journalists, and industry experts on Qwoted to expand your network and share insights.
Avoid Using AI: Journalists prefer authentic content and can identify AI-written material. Stick to genuine, human-generated responses.
I’ve put together a more detailed resource here and also discussed this topic on a recent episode of Digital PR Explained:
Let me know what you think. I’d love to hear how you’re finding the tool and whether it's useful to you.
